Focus

I have been suffering physical pains of one kind or another for years, but a stronger one in my foot for the past six months or more. So yes, this quote below resonates and I can tell you I've experienced it fully. For me personally, when I let the physical pain or fear of doing something become my focus, it can easily become ALL I can focus on. God made us for more. Enjoy the quote!
"Wherever you focus your attention you actually create and strengthen neuropathways making you more capable of experiencing the object of your focus.  Just as when we focus on God it seems that His Spirit floods into a situation. He was there all along; we are just expanding our capacity to sense Him.
When we focus on our physical pains, fears, and problems we actually create a greater capacity to perceive and experience them.  Very often the pain of the problem is not really getting bigger; we are just getting better at sensing it.
We can magnify the problem or we can magnify God! This is what the Psalmist meant when he said, “Magnify the Lord with me.” Make God bigger in your life as you expand your capacity to experience Him."
-- Dr. Jim Richards

When God seems to be missing and things are going wrong, it's so easy to focus on the troubles and trials. I have to wonder if we focused on God instead, how much lighter our load would be.

One More Thing...
Are you ready to change what you magnify? How can I encourage you?

Take care, and I'm always here to pray for you if you have a need or request.

The Greatest Risk

It's no secret to my friends that I really came to love Jordan Smith during last season's The Voice competition. Not only is he gifted, but he is humble, sincere, and transparent about who he is. He is an example of why I believe we need to look at the younger generation and be willing to learn from them. Because we are older doesn't mean we have it all figured out. We should be willing and ready to learn from anybody.

I don't know the back story of the lyrics in this song, but as with so many songs, I heard the words I needed to hear. The song may be a love song, it might be about his faith. Regardless, the words are powerful and can still resonate in other directions. Take a listen and see what you think.

In particular, I find myself challenged to stand in the light and be seen as I am. It's so easy to hide part of who we are if we think people around us don't really want to know, or if we have been told we are too much. A friend's husband once told me I was too loud. I had an ex-boyfriend's mother tell me my voice was too low. I have been told my ideas are too big and I've had the feeling of being told I was too unimportant.

But...God designed us perfectly. He made us the way He wants and needs us to be. We are not TOO much, TOO quiet, TOO loud, or TOO anything! We are carefully designed to live out God's purpose and maybe it's time we all stood in the light.

One More Thing...
Are you willing to take the risk and stop hiding in order to be seen as you are?

Take care, and I'm always here to pray for you if you have a need or request.

Stand in the light and be seen as we are
Didn't I tell you I hear what you say?
Never look back as you're walking away
Carry the music, the memories and keep them inside

You laugh every day
Don't stop those tears from falling down

This is who I am inside
This is who I am, I'm not going to hide
Cause the greatest risk we'll ever take is by far
To stand in the light and be seen as we are

So stand in the light and be seen as we are

With courage and kindness hold onto your faith
You get what you give and its never too late
To reach for the branch and climb up leaving sadness behind

You fight hard for love
We can never give enough

This is who I am inside
This is who I am, I'm not going to hide
Cause the greatest risk we'll ever take is by far
To stand in the light and be seen as we are
So stand in the light and be seen as we are

Riding the storms that come raging towards us we dive
Holding our breath as we break through the surface
With arms open wide
With arms open wide

This is who I am inside
This is who I am, I'm not going to hide
Cause the greatest risk we'll ever take is by far
To stand in the light and be seen as we are
So stand in the light and be seen as we are

Cause the greatest risk we'll ever take is by far
To stand in the light and be seen as we are
So stand in the light and be seen as we are
So stand in the light and be seen as we are
